Following the suspension, the Makachu divers relocated their performances to Coco Beach in Dar es Salaam. In January 2025, the Stone Town Conservation and Development Authority lifted the suspension, allowing Makachu performances to resume in Forodhani Gardens. However, this revival comes with new guidelines to ensure safety and cultural integrity. Performers are now required to adhere to strict regulations, including the use of safety equipment and compliance with cultural norms. The inclusion of female performers for the first time marks a significant step towards inclusivity in this traditional practice.
